Report Queer Hate is a queer-led, grassroots initiative designed to address the systemic underreporting of hate crimes against LGBTQIA+ people across so-called Australia.
We aim to increase the reporting rates of hate crimes toward LGBTQIA+ people by providing safe and accessible reporting mechanisms, to use the data to illustrate the reality of hate violence confronting queer people, and advocate for social and political change to address these issues.
We provide a variety of reporting channels—a comprehensive online form, a single question 'quick report' response, a text hotline, multiple social media platforms, and email — to ensure that every victim-survivor, witness, or ally can share their experiences in a way that meets their needs.
Our mission is to empower queer communities to create a culture of reporting, to connect individuals with tailored support, and use the reported information to drive systemic change. Through awareness, advocacy and action, we look to build vital community infrastructure to care for queer people and shift our reliance from traditionally-hostile authorities and towards our own people and expertise.
Everyone has the right to live free from violence and discrimination.
We're here to listen and help build a society that defends this right by:
Developing safe and easy ways to report hate.
Providing access to vital recovery assistance.
Analysing data to understand hate trends.
Pushing for social and political change.
